Former NBA All-Star Anthony Mason is in stable condition after suffering a heart attack earlier this week.

Mason's son, Anthony Mason Jr., sent out a release regarding his father's status, as relayed by Tina Cervasio of MSG Network:

My family and I appreciate everyone's support this week, and we are grateful for all of the prayers and well-wishes for our father, Anthony Mason. Our father is now in stable condition and continues to receive expert medical care here in New York as he recovers from his medical procedures. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Mason's agent Don Cronson told Ian Begley of ESPN New York on Friday night that Mason's condition had improved. "It seems like he's day-to-day now. Before it was hour-to-hour," Cronson said.

Mason, 48, posted career averages of 10.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists. He made one All-Star appearance as a member of the Miami Heat in 2001.
