Report: Mavericks interested if Stoudemire takes Knicks buyout

Amar'e Stoudemire may be mulling a buyout offer from the New York Knicks after the All-Star break, and if that comes to pass the Dallas Mavericks are reportedly interested in his services.

The Mavs' interest in adding a big man is no secret - they've been courting Dallas resident Jermaine O'Neal to make an NBA return all season. However the team would not hesitate to add both O'Neal and Stoudemire should they both be available, according to ESPN's Marc Stein and Tim MacMahon.

Stoudemire is owed $23.4 million in the final year of his deal with the Knicks. He signed a max contract in New York as a member of the vaunted free agent class of 2010, but is simply not the same player he once was. Limited by injuries, he's played in only 174 of a possible 280 games the last four seasons.

Still, he leads the putrid Knicks in rebounding this year at seven per game.
