Grizzlies' Vince Carter suffers foot injury vs. Nuggets
When you're 38 years old and still playing professional basketball, injuries are an occupational hazard.
Memphis Grizzlies guard Vince Carter discovered the truth of that on Thursday, when he injured his left foot in the second quarter against the Denver Nuggets on what looked like a completely innocuous play.
Carter, who had four points on 1-of-4 shooting when he suffered the injury, had to be helped to the locker room and did not return.
Carter is averaging a career-low 6.1 points per game on career-worst shooting percentages from the field (33.6) and 3-point range (27.8), but has missed just two games all season.
In fact, for all the talk early in his career of his fragility, his body has held up remarkably well, and he's missed only nine games combined over the past four years, his age 35-38 campaigns.
He will be re-evaluated on Friday.
