VIDEO: Grizzlies' Stokes fights D-League teammate during game

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

This is not what D-League assignments are for, much as the Memphis Grizzlies' identity is built on toughness.

On an assignment with the Iowa Energy to garner extra playing time, Grizzlies rookie Jarnell Stokes got into a fight with D-League teammate Kalin Lucas on Tuesday night. Not during practice or in the locker room, but right in front of everyone, right there on the sidelines.

Stokes, the 35th overall pick in June, and Lucas, who had multiple stints with Memphis earlier in the season, were separated by security and were both ejected from the game.

Iowa would win the game, thanks in part to the 16 points and eight rebounds Stokes put up before getting tossed. In six games on assignment, Stokes is averaging 13.8 points and 8,7 rebounds while shooting 61.8 percent on the floor, numbers that could have had him in the organization's good graces were it not for Tuesday's events.
