Mike Conley sprained wrist Monday, unsure of Tuesday status

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

The Memphis Grizzlies may have suffered a major loss in winning their seventh game in eight outings on Monday.

Point guard Mike Conley suffered a sprained left wrist in the 103-94 victory over the Orlando Magic, limiting him to just 22 minutes of action. Conley caught his hand in a jersey coming off of a screen, was in pain during the second half and was sporting an ice pack after the game.

"Wait and see," Conley said of his status for Tuesday's big showdown with the Dallas Mavericks.

Conley entered play Monday averaging 17.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists, shooting 45.9 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from outside. An underrated player at both ends, the Grizzlies have been 7.7 points per-100 possessions better with Conley on the floor than without him. The team managed to win a pair of games without him earlier this month, but that's unlikely to be the case over a larger sample.

Should Conley miss time, Beno Udrih would stand to start at the point, backed up by Nick Calathes in what's a steady but unspectacular contingency plan.
