Report: Korver, Thompson expected to join Curry in 3-Point Shootout

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Yeah, so, don't make plans on Valentine's Day if you're a fan of 3-point shooting.

After Steph Curry said last week that he'll continue to participate in the 3-Point Shootout as a part of NBA All-Star Saturday Night until he wins one, the field has apparently filled up quickly. It would be hard to pick a better one.

Not only is Curry expected to follow through on his promise to compete, but Golden State Warriors teammate Klay Thompson is planning to participate in the contest, too, according to multiple reports. Cross your fingers they're joined by their head coach, Steve Kerr, the NBA's all-time leader in 3-point percentage.

Joining the Splash Brothers will be the league's current top marksman, Atlanta Hawks wing and potential All-Star Kyle Korver. Korver ranks just behind Curry and Kerr and just ahead of Thompson on the all-time shooting list at 43.2 percent but has hit at a 53.1 percent clip this year, and ranks behind only Portland Trail Blazers wing Wesley Matthews in total 3-point makes.

And hey, Matthews is likely to join the fun, too, as is J.J. Redick of the Los Angeles Clippers. Okay, quick question:

Curry, Thompson, Korver, Matthews and Redick make five of the six-man field that still doesn't include defending champion Marco Belinelli of the San Antonio Spurs. Would anyone complain about an eight-man field including Belinelli and the two Cleveland Cavaliers who won it before him, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving?
