Knicks' Calderon out Saturday with knee injury

Mark Konezny / USA TODAY Sports

New York Knicks point guard Jose Calderon will sit out Saturday's game against the Charlotte Hornets after sustaining a knee contusion in Friday's victory over the Orlando Magic.

Calderon had to be helped to the locker room without putting any weight on his left leg after colliding with two Magic players in the third quarter of Friday's game. X-rays came back negative.

The 33-year-old veteran, who missed the first 13 games of the season with a calf injury, is struggling through his first season with the Knicks, averaging 9.2 points, 4.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds on career-low 39.9 percent shooting.

Calderon remains an elite 3-point shooter, knocking down nearly 41 percent of his attempts.
