Blazers' Batum suffers sprained wrist vs. Celtics

The Portland Trail Blazers have the worst luck when it comes to injuries.

Coming on the heels of power forward LaMarcus Aldridge needing to miss six-to-eight weeks with a torn right thumb, the Trail Blazers were dealt yet another injury, this time to swingman Nicolas Batum.

Against the Boston Celtics on Thursday, Batum sustained a right wrist sprain, reports Erik Gundersen of the Columbian. He did not return to the game, and afterwards had the wrist in a brace

Batum suffered the same injury to the same wrist in December. He missed a pair of games as a result. He's unsure how much time he'll have to miss this time around, though he admitted that he can't really use the wrist right now.

Wrist issues could potentially explain Batum's woeful shooting this season. The career 36-percent 3-point shooter is shooting just 28.1 percent from deep and just 39.5 percent overall.

The 26-year-old small forward is averaging 9.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 33.7 minutes per game this season. He remains the Blazers' best wing defender and still functions as a very valuable secondary playmaker.
