Raptors can't catch up with Spurs after going down big

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors haven't beat the Spurs in San Antonio since Dec. 28, 2007. And the way that Toronto played in the first half Tuesday night ensured that trend wouldn't change.

Danny Green, Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard ran roughshod over the slumping Raptors early, giving the Spurs a 20-point halftime lead before Toronto finally woke up in the second half. It wasn't enough, as San Antonio held on for the 117-107 victory.

Leonard had 24 points, 11 rebounds and five steals, while Parker added 23 points and nine assists. Green hit five-of-six treys - a big reason the Spurs shot a scorching 61.1 percent from deep - and finished with 19 points.

Kyle Lowry and Amir Johnson did their best to get the Raps back into it late, with the point guard registering with a game-high 32 points. Johnson notched his first double-double since Jan. 18 with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
