Lakers' Scott wants Nick Young to listen to him, not basketball gods

Nick Young chooses to listen to the voices in his head as opposed to the voices on the sideline.

In the Los Angeles Lakers' 94-85 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday - their third consecutive defeat - Young recorded a team-high 23 points on 4-of-9 shooting off the bench, while going a perfect 13-for-13 from the stripe.

"Shooters keep shooting," Young said, according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News. "The basketball gods talked to me today and told me to go out, continue to play and get your head right. I listened."

Granted, Young is a shooter, but head coach Byron Scott would rather Young became a complete player - and that starts with listening to him, not the supernatural.

"I know he's a shooter. But as coach talked to him about, there are other things he must do to continue to be on the floor," Scott said. "I'm not saying that to be speaking to myself."

Another aspect of Young's game that Scott could do without: the mounting number of technical fouls he's receiving. Young earned his fourth of the season against Utah after getting ejected a month prior against Oklahoma City

Scott said he had a word with Young and he doesn't plan on bringing up the matter again.

"That will be the second time I will tell him,” Scott said. “There won't be a third.”
