Mo Williams scores franchise-record 52 to lead Timberwolves over Pacers
In the words of Kevin Garnett:
Against all odds, Minnesota Timberwolves veteran point guard Mo Williams exploded for a franchise-record 52 points in a 110-101 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday. The win snapped a 15-game losing streak for Minnesota that dates back to 2014.
Improbably, Williams started the game on a subtle note, scoring just 15 points in the first half before exploding for 16 in the third quarter. His output helped buoy the Timberwolves' otherwise toothless attack.
Despite Williams' brilliance, the Pacers managed to lead for much of the game and held a six-point advantage heading into the fourth.
However, Williams came through in the clutch, as he scored 21 points in the final quarter. He also nailed a fall-away 3-pointer with under two minutes left to give the Timberwolves a six-point lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Williams's 52-point performance ranks as the highest-scoring output of any player this season. The next two closest belong to Carmelo Anthony and Pau Gasol, who each scored 46.
