Report: With multiple suitors, Nuggets now shopping Wilson Chandler

There is no shortage of teams interested in Denver Nuggets small forward Wilson Chandler, and bidding appears set to open in short order.

It was unclear if the Nuggets would be willing to move Chandler this season, as they remain tenuously in the Western Conference playoff race at 17-20. After dealing Timofey Mozgov for a pair of first-round picks last week, though, it appeared Denver was ready to move on from a flawed and disappointing core, tearing things down with an eye to the future.

That again appears to be the case, as the Nuggets are now shopping Chandler hard, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.

A Monday report from ESPN suggested the Los Angeles Clippers, Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat could be among the teams interested in Chandler and Arron Afflalo, though it's unclear if Afflalo is also on the block. The Oklahoma City Thunder were previously thought to be interested, but their acquisition of Dion Waiters and a return to health for Kevin Durant may have put an end to that.

Teams looking to acquire Chandler will be doing so with a two-year window in mind, as he is owed $7.2 million next season - an amount that became fully guaranteed this summer. His $6.8-million salary for this season could make it difficult for some teams to absorb him, with the Clippers, for example, not having an obvious salary match without involving a third team.

The Nuggets have a little over a month to find a home for Chandler, who is averaging 14.2 points and 5.9 rebounds while hitting 35.4 percent of his 3-point attempts. A capable and versatile but unspectacular defender, he would stand to upgrade the backup small forward position for most teams while adding flexibility on the defensive end.
