VIDEO: 5 highlights of the week

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

On a normal week, this post is full of monstrous dunks and flashy passes.

But this past week was far from ordinary. Three major trades were executed, the Hornets went on a six-game winning streak and the Detroit Pistons toppled the San Antonio Spurs on the road with a buzzer-beater from Brandon Jennings.

In celebration of a truly strange week in the Association, here are your five (weird) highlights of the week.

5. Good luck stopping Big Spain

Ever wonder why every team with cap space this summer is lusting over the prospect of signing Marc Gasol away from the Memphis Grizzlies?

Well, it's mostly for his MVP-caliber two-way play, but it helps to be able to sink ridiculous shots as well.

4. Kemba Walker cooking in the clutch

As if you needed a reminder, Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker is a cold-blooded killer in the clutch.

Walker led the Hornets to a 4-0 week while averaging 30.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists. His accomplishments are made more impressive by the Hornets' shorthanded roster, as both center Al Jefferson and shooting guard Lance Stephenson both sat out due to injury.

3. You will lose to Trevor Booker in a game of H-O-R-S-E

Utah Jazz forward Trevor Booker carries a well-earned reputation for being a scrappy player willing to do the dirty work like setting screens and making rim runs.

But Booker also has a few tricks up his sleeve, something he demonstrated against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Perhaps the Thunder should have heeded the sage advice of Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy to just "form a f---ing wall."

2. Brandon Jennings sinks the Spurs

Ordinarily, taking your chances with Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings attempting a game-winner is a good bet.

But the Spurs were burned by a buzzer-beating layup from Jennings on Tuesday. The shot sent the Pistons to their sixth consecutive victory. Jennings averaged 19.3 points and 5.9 assists on 48.7 percent shooting during the streak.

1. Jusuf Nurkic isn't afraid of anything

Few players, let alone rookies, would be willing to taunt the Sacramento Kings' 6-foot-11, 292-pound center, DeMarcus Cousins.

But Denver Nuggets center Jusuf Nurkic had no qualms about chirping Cousins. After nailing a jumper in Cousins's eye, Nurkic proceeded to taunt Boogie down the court.

Cousins got his revenge on the ensuing possession, hitting a layup over Nurkic, but it was the kooky rookie that got the last laugh, as the Nuggets came away with the 118-108 victory.
