Lance Stephenson out Saturday, still no timetable for return

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

If the Charlotte Hornets have any idea when Lance Stephenson may be back, they're keeping it to themselves.

The team continues to update Stephenson's status just a game at a time as the shooting guard deals with a sprained pelvis. He will miss his 14th consecutive game Saturday when the team takes on the New York Knicks.

The Hornets have surprisingly gone 8-5 during Stephenson's absence, and they weren't playing particularly well when he was healthy. In 25 games before the injury, he was averaging 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists, but shooting 38.6 percent from the floor. The team has been 8.1 points per 100 possessions better without him on the court.

Gerald Henderson has been starting in place of Stephenson and playing relatively well. He's averaging 9.9 points, down from 14 a year ago, but he's upped that to 13.8 on 47.1 percent shooting, with 4.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists, starting in Stephenson's stead.
