Report: Knicks shopping Jose Calderon

Mark Konezny / USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks are having a fire sale and everyone except superstar Carmelo Anthony is reportedly on the table.

That includes veteran point guard Jose Calderon, according to separate reports from Ken Berger of CBS Sports and Howard Beck of Bleacher Report

The 33-year-old Calderon is owed $7.1 million this season and another $14.5 million over the following two seasons. He was acquired by the Knicks last summer in a trade involving Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler.

As noted by Beck, the Knicks like having Calderon around and once hoped to leverage his Team Spain connection with soon-to-be free agent Marc Gasol into a recruitment pitch. However, Calderon is on the downturn of his career, is eating into potential cap space and the Knicks reportedly feel less bullish about their ability to land Gasol.

Although Calderon is declining, he still possesses skills that could help a potential playoff team. He remains a solid distributor who can reliably spot up. He's averaging 9.4 points, 4.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 31.3 minutes per game while connecting on 42.5 percent of his 3-pointers.

However, given what Calderon is owed, finding a taker for his services may prove difficult.
