Warriors' Kerr and Green curse each other, love each other
Things are going well by the Bay.
As the West-leading Golden State Warriors prepare to welcome the East-leading Toronto Raptors Friday night, we get a taste of the positive communication the Dubs enjoy.
First-year head coach Steve Kerr and forward Draymond Green have forged an honest relationship during the Warriors' compilation of an NBA-best 25-5 record, as ESPN's Ethan Strauss wrote Friday.
"I love Draymond," said Kerr in the article. "Draymond and I have probably gotten into it three or four times, and every time he apologizes within a minute."
Particularly amusing, Kerr describes a game situation against the Houston Rockets that - if it weren't for the fact it ultimately meant nothing - could have turned into the sort of moment the Twitter- and hot takes-driven sports media world could have pounced on with abandon:
Against Houston I got upset. At the end of the half (Green) turned it over with 1.8 seconds, they called a 20 to set up a play. And I was so upset. 'Just get the ball in!'
He's like, 'They didn't get open! F--- you!' Andre (Iguodala) holds him back, soon as the buzzer sounds he's all, 'My bad, coach!' And I'm like, 'That's why I love you, Draymond!'
Green is averaging 12.8 points and eight rebounds a game this season, but it's his ability to guard four positions that have made him indispensable for the Warriors.
