VIDEO: Davis dunks apparent game-winner but Asik's own-goal forces OT

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Anthony Davis very nearly beat the San Antonio Spurs at the rim at the buzzer for the second time this season.

Back on Nov. 8, Davis hit a ridiculous layup with 6.6 seconds left on the clock to put his New Orleans Pelicans ahead for good against the defending champs. On Wednesday, it looked like he had done it again, delivering a put-back jam to put the Pelicans up 84-82 with just 0.7 seconds left.

ANTHONY DAVIS FOR THE WIN!

But 0.7 seconds are 0.7 seconds and the Spurs had one last chance. They called on Omer Asik to get things done and force overtime, and Asik delivered. And yes, Asik plays for the Pelicans, not the Spurs.

That's going to be a tough one for Asik to live down, having tipped in a game-tying basket moments after Davis appeared to have won the game. It's made worse by the fact that the Spurs would win 95-93 in overtime.

Hey, it's a new year shortly, Asik, A-shake it off.
