Kyrie Irving dealing with left knee contusion
The Cleveland Cavaliers averted a pair of near-disasters Christmas Day.
A day after finding out Anderson Varejao is out for the season, the Cavs saw LeBron James and Kyrie Irving come up limping against the Miami Heat. Both players were able to return, and James was said to have only been dealing with some leg tightness.
Irving's issue seems to have more potential to linger, as he suffered a left knee contusion in the fourth quarter. He will be evaluated further, and the team made no comment on his status for Friday's game against the Orlando Magic.
Irving finished the game with 25 points, four rebounds and three assists, shooting 10-of-19 in the loss. He's now averaging 20.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists, shooting 47 percent from the floor.
He's been uncharacteristically healthy to start the year, appearing in all 28 games for the Cavaliers. He played 71 a year ago, a career high, and has missed an average of 16.3 in his three-year career, including three games in January due to a bruised left knee
