Jennings on passing up open layup: 'My bad!'

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Laugh at Brandon Jennings for passing up an open layup if you will, but it doesn't seem like it will bother him much.

Jennings used Twitter following his team's Wednesday loss to explain his curious decision, which saw him eschew an open layup in favor of a turnaround mid-range jumper. It's hard to fault his explanation, which basically amounts to a shrug.

An open layup is nearly a 100 percent shot, and even when guarded Jennings shoots 58.1 percent at the rim. That 20-footer is something he hits just 25 percent of the time, meaning he took about 1.5 expected points off the table with his decision.

But hey, he thought Monta Ellis was on him, and it happens.
