Report: Brewer back on the trade market; Timberwolves seeking 1st rounder

Brad Rempel / USA Today Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves have had a change of heart.

Shooting guard Corey Brewer is back on the trade market, according to ESPN's Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst

Brewer was originally reported to be in play in mid-November, before being pulled off the market. But the 5-19 Timberwolves are again talking trade, with Brewer the focus.

Here's more from ESPN:

Houston and Cleveland remain the best positioned to make a deal because both teams possess an active trade exception large enough to absorb Brewer's $4.7 million salary. But sources say that the Wolves are seeking a future first-round pick in exchange for Brewer, something the Cavaliers are reluctant to surrender.

The Rockets, sources say, hope to sell Minnesota on going through with the swap in exchange for a 2015 second-rounder via New York that the Rockets possess. It's a pick with the potential to be attractive come June given the Knicks' ongoing struggles.

Brewer has a relationship with former teammate Kevin Love, now in Cleveland, after the two enjoyed success on transition in their days together in Minnesota.

Houston's a potential fit because Rockets head coach Kevin McHale drafted Brewer in Minnesota.

Brewer's averaging 10.5 points, 3.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 24 games.
