Task force stops $1M heist of LeBron James sneakers

Some people really like shoes. Don't count Charles Jennings among them, even though he tried to steal 7,500 pairs of Nike LeBron 12 shoes recently.

Jennings stands accused of trying to steal nearly $1 million worth of LeBron James shoes, a plan that was foiled by The Memphis Cargo Task Force in Memphis, Tenn..

"Stole a trailer full of LeBron James tennis shoes," assistant chief Mark Dunbar, Shelby County Sheriff's Office explained. "Which was valued somewhere between $700,000 and $1 million ... With the size of that shipment, the odds are not very good you're going to be able to get away with it."

The task force contains members from the FBI, U.S. Marshals and local sheriff's office and police department members. They were able to catch Jennings, who is a cargo worker, when he used his own identification card to leave the cargo facility with the trailer full of shoes.

Almost all of the shoes that were stolen have been recovered, but an estimated 700 pairs remain outstanding.
