VIDEO: Faried denies 7-foot-2 Gobert on dunk attempt
The Denver Nuggets topped the Utah Jazz 103-101 on Monday, and the Jazz can trace their two missing points back to midway through the fourth quarter.
It was at that time that 7-foot-2 sophomore Rudy Gobert appeared to have an easy bucket, gathering the ball above the restricted area and preparing for a two-handed jam. Gobert entered play Monday shooting 70 percent at the rim and had missed just three of his 25 dunk attempts on the year. This was a gimme.
Except that Kenneth Faried met him at the rim, denying him the jam in emphatic fashion.
That's him following the play for a big offensive rebound, too, by the way. No big deal. That's a pretty key sequence in a narrow road win, and while Faried's numbers (11 points, five rebounds) didn't jump off the page, he probably wouldn't classify his outing as awful this time around.
