Craig Sager aiming for February return to TNT

It's been more than half a year since the basketball world last saw Craig Sager roaming the sidelines, drawing the ire of Gregg Popovich.

It'll be a little longer still, but fans should see the boldly-dressed reporter back on the sidelines for TNT sometime in the new year.

In a lengthy feature on NBA.com by Shaun Powell, details of Sager's potential return, and an update on his battle with leukemia, were revealed:

His choice of suit for one day next February, his target for returning to work as the best sideline reporter in any sport, wasn't decided on a whim. Cancer has adopted certain colors for awareness, you see, such as pink for breast cancer. Orange is for leukemia, the disease that invaded Sager's life and threatened to take it. He's in full remission now, though he's still waiting to get medical clearance to do everyday stuff the rest of us take for granted. And so he pines for the day he'll be back doing NBA games while his orange suit blends with all the orange basketballs, an ensemble which will seem so ... perfect.

When Sager returns, it'll be in a custom-made striped orange sports jacket made of 100 percent linen. It sounds very, very Sager, and feels like it will make for a fitting look when he's back.

The basketball world, and San Antonio Spurs coach Popovich - who has called the Sager family regularly to check in - will surely welcome Sager back warmly, as the outpouring of public support during has battle has been heartwarming.
