Kobe Bryant sits out Lakers' practice to rest

Logging a team-high 35.1 minutes per game is taking its toll on Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant's body.

Bryant sat out of the Lakers' practice Saturday in an effort to rest his 36-year-old body, as reported by Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News. Bryant battled the flu last week, but managed to play through the condition.

In addition to Bryant, power forward Carlos Boozer (sore left shoulder) and point guard Jeremy Lin (sore back) also missed practice on Saturday.

Although Bryant has paid little lip-service to his workload, the ageing veteran has logged the sixth-most minutes played this season at 454.

Bryant is also shouldering a huge portion of the Lakers' offensive responsibilities. He leads the league in both field-goals attempted and usage rate.
