Heat's Norris Cole to have further tests on dislocated finger Friday

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Heat should have a better idea Friday about the status of point guard Norris Cole.

Cole dislocated his left middle finger in the second quarter of Thursday's 110-93 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, and will be re-evaluated Friday. He was injured while deflecting a pass and was in a splint following the game.

"Right now, just being safe," Cole said, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel

Cole was listed as questionable after leaving the contest, but never returned. He was 0-of-3 from the field in 10 minutes.

The fourth-year guard has started all 12 Heat games this season, and entered Thursday's contest with career-high averages of 8.1 points and 3.7 assists, while shooting a personal-best 37.5 percent from long range.

Miami was without shooting guard Dwyane Wade on Thursday for the fourth consecutive game with a hamstring injury, while Josh McRoberts (foot) and Luol Deng (wrist) were questionable, but both returned to the Heat lineup.

Rookie Shabazz Napier got extended run in after Cole went down. He set career highs with 17 points and 32 minutes played. Napier connected on 5-of-9 shots from the field, while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out three assists.
