VIDEO: Chris Paul misses game-tying layup, calls excessive timeout

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers seemed to be in control during most of Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs and led 82-75 with just over five minutes left to play. However, the Spurs would outscore the Clippers 14-3 the rest of the way to earn the 89-85 victory.

After San Antonio went ahead 87-85, Clippers point guard Chris Paul had a chance to even the score in the final seconds, but his layup attempt was just off the mark.

A scramble ensued and Los Angeles came away with the ball, and Paul signalled for a timeout. The problem was that the Clippers didn't have any timeouts remaining and were given a technical foul as a result.

Have a look:

Tony Parker missed the technical free throw, but Kawhi Leonard was immediately fouled on the ensuing possession and sunk both of his attempts from the charity stripe to seal the win.
