Durant on possible D.C. return: 'I really haven't thought about that'

LeBron James' decision to return to Cleveland as a free agent has people wondering where the hometown Washington Wizards factor into Kevin Durant's 2016 free agency decision.

On Tuesday, Durant joined ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike Show to promote his HBO special, and the topic of a Washington homecoming came up.

"I really haven't thought about that, to be honest," Durant said, as transcribed by The Oklahoman. "I hear it a lot. But I think I can make an impact on the community I grew up from anywhere. So I think I'm doing a good job of that in Oklahoma. My friends, my family, the kids in my neighborhood, are seeing that. I'm inspiring them from Oklahoma City.

"I really haven't thought about it. I love where I am," Durant added. "I know that sounds cliche and the answer everybody gives, but that's really true from my side of it. I'm sure everybody's watching from afar."

Durant, who remains sidelined following surgery to repair a foot fracture, was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area.

The reigning NBA MVP still has the remainder of this season and the 2015-16 season on his current contract with the Thunder, but the speculation surrounding his eventual landing spot will only increase over the next two years.
