Jazz claim Hamilton, Ingles on waivers, cut Felix

The Utah Jazz added two intriguing young pieces on the eve of the NBA season on Monday, claiming Jordan Hamilton and Joe Ingles off of waivers.

To make room on the roster, the Jazz will release Carrick Felix, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. That's a disappointing end for the 24-year-old Felix, who appeared in seven games with the Cleveland Cavaliers last season and appears to have some potential as a reserve wing. He struggled in the preseason, though, and Hamilton represents an immediate upgrade.

In camp with the Toronto Raptors, Hamilton was the victim of the team's need for interior depth rather than wing talent. He had an impressive preseason, averaging 9.5 points in 18.3 minutes and shooting 59.5 percent from the floor. The No. 26 pick in 2011, Hamilton can space the floor, rebound well, and has the physical tools to become a strong defender.

Ingles will give the Jazz a fellow Australian alongside rookie Dante Exum. Though 27-year-old failed to break camp with the Los Angeles Clippers after scoring just six points in 37 minutes of preseason action, Ingles can really shoot the ball, and could conceivably work his way into coach Quin Snyder's rotation as a floor-spacer.
