Kevin Durant: Needs Foot Surgery, Out 6-8 Weeks

Durant has a fracture in his right foot that will require surgery and is expected to sideline him for 6-8 weeks, the Oklahoman reports.

Analysis:

Durant informed the Thunder's training staff Saturday that he had been experiencing discomfort in his right foot, and after a series of tests, it was determined he has a "Jones" fracture. Other NBA players who have underwent this procedure have been able to return in 6-8 weeks, but there is no firm timetable for Durant's return at this time, and an official timetable probably won't be established until after surgery. In Durant's stead, Jeremy Lamb or Perry Jones could see additional minutes, and Serge Ibaka and Russell Westbrook could be asked to shoulder a larger load of the offense. The 6-8 weeks timeline would have Durant returning sometime near the end of November or around the start of December.
