Anthony expects to primarily play small forward this season, ESPN New York reports.

Analysis:

Anthony has spent time at power forward the past two seasons, but as new coach Derek Fisher implements the triangle offense, his star player is expected to return to his natural small forward position. As arguably the league's most complete scorer, Anthony's position should have little impact on his production this season, as he's proven to be able to score from anywhere on the court. Additionally, the Knicks' new offense is designed to keep players on the move, which should highlight Anthony's vast offensive arsenal that includes post and perimeter play. As a result of Anthony being deemed New York's starting small forward, the chances of Amar'e Stoudemire occupying the Knicks' first-team power forward spot are dramatically improved. Furthermore, with Anthony at the three spot, the competition between Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. to start at shooting guard becomes significantly tighter with only one position available.
