PHOTO: It appears the Pelicans got NBA approval for a Pelican silhouette on court
In early September, Grantland's Zach Lowe reported that the New Orleans Pelicans had proposed a court redeisgn that would be unlike anything else that exists around the NBA.
A photo tweeted from inside the Smoothie King Center on Thursday makes it look as if the team has been granted approval from the league. Right there inside the 3-point line is the silhouette of a Pelican.

Lowe built on that photo by providing the mock-up for the new court design:

No other floor in the NBA has such an elaborate work inside the 3-point line, and it's sure to stand out as odd to start. It's much more a college basketball gimmick than an NBA one, but the overhead mock is encouraging (we have some concern how it may come off up-close and on television).
