Report: Celtics to complete Evan Turner signing before training camp

Evan Turner and the Celtics were reportedly on the verge of a deal as far back as July (read the story stack below), but that was the last we had heard about the potential partnership.

Until now.

Financial details aren't known, but something along the lines of the league minimum might be in order.

Turner averaged 14.0 points, five rebounds and 3.2 assists in 81 games with the 76ers and Pacers last season, but he played just 21.1 minutes per game in his 27 appearances for Indiana after being traded by Philadelphia at the trade deadline. Turner played in just 12 of the Pacers's 19 playoff games.

Turner benefited from an increased role on a terrible Sixers team to start last season, but Turner's advanced metrics are not complimentary, as he boasts a career true shooting percentage of just .485.

Thus far in his NBA career, the former second overall pick has been a poor shooting swingman who takes most of his shots from the midrange area, doesn't get to the free throw line and doesn't do any one thing on the court exceptionally well.

Despite the negatives in Turner's game, there is little risk associated with the rebuilding Celtics taking a chance on a 25-year-old who should be playing to prove his worth.
