Carmelo Anthony's offseason has been about far more than just all-white outfits with the hats to match. Anthony has also been keeping it clean in the kitchen and getting after it in the gym, which explains the photo of a slimmed-down 'Melo that surfaced earlier in the week (see the storyline below).

On Thursday, the New York Post caught up with Anthony's trainer, Idan Ravin, to get the details on how Anthony's targeted those extra pounds. Ravin outlined some of the key tenets of Anthony's program, citing the hiring of Phil Jackson as an inspiration for Anthony's increased vigor.

Of course, you probably care far more about the actual methodology. Not that you, dear reader, need to lose any weight. You're beautiful just the way you are.

"He wants to come in as the leader and a top-three player in the world," Ravin explained. "You should not just follow his word, but follow his actions."

That's good advice. Here's how, courtesy of Ravin:

It’s consistency. That’s what it is. No, I’m not going to just juice and cleanse for four days and drop a few pounds. That’s what’s causing the long-term changes.

Give someone chocolate cake, it’s easy to say no when someone’s around. When no one’s around, it’s a gift [to say no].

Making fundamentally sound choices, eating smart calories, not wasted calories. We go out to eat, he’s making good choices.
...
He’s working out very hard, ramped it up, being even more meticulous. He’s been super diligent on his diet, extra cardio, rest. A lot of amazing people were hired [by the Knicks] and he’s excited about it. It’s another example of Melo trying to be super prepared.

So there you go. Hit the gym hard, get proper rest, and always remember - abs are made in the kitchen, not in the weight room. But the work, well, the work is never done.

"A lot more work to do," Ravin said. "It's not the time to pat each other on the back. Let's make sure the goals are met."
