Report: Larry Drew joins David Blatt's Cavaliers staff

Kelley L Cox / USA TODAY Sports

Given the amount of pressure on David Blatt in his first NBA head coaching gig in Cleveland, it makes sense that the former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach would look to add some experience to his staff.

Now, it seems that he has.

Drew went 128-102 in three seasons as head coach of the Atlanta Hawks, making the playoffs in all three seasons, the high point coming in 2010-11 when he won a series and advanced to the second round. He then oversaw the worst year in Bucks history last season and was replaced by Jason Kidd after Milwaukee went 15-67.

The Cavs also hired Tyronn Lue to serve as an assistant coach under Blatt and reportedly made the former point guard the highest paid assistant in NBA history.
