Metta World Peace is off to China for the 2014-15 season, and his first stop will be the zoo.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that the former Ron Artest had narrowed down his choices as a free agent to three Chinese squads, and on Thursday, Sportando reported that World Peace has settled on a deal with the Sichuan Blue Whales.

The team's general manager confirmed the report to Sportando, who suggest World Peace will earn close to $1.3 million for the season, or roughly what he'd make on an NBA veteran minimum contract.

Still just 34 years old, it was thought that World Peace could land with an NBA club. Given the similar finances, however, it's tough to blame the 15-year veteran for seeing a little more of the world this late in his career. And of course, a handful of players have begun the season playing in China but found their way to the NBA when teams came calling, which may be MWP's plan.
