At long last, the wait with bated breath is over: Heat forward Chris Bosh finally re-signed with Miami:

The 30-year-old versatile forward averaged 16.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and one block last season as the third option in Miami's failed championship run.

Since signing in Miami in 2010, Bosh has largely taken a backseat to fellow stars Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Now, with James opting to move back to Cleveland and Wade's health declining, Bosh's role will likely increase.

As a reference, the last time Bosh was the undisputed number-one option on offense, he averaged 24 points per game on a true-shooting percentage of 59.2. That was four years ago, though, and it's unclear he can return to such lofty levels of production.

Heat president Pat Riley released a statement on Bosh via Instagram:

Chris Bosh is a two-time NBA champion and one of the most versatile big men in the league. His unique skillset makes him one of the best players in the game today. I’ve always felt he was committed to this organization, this staff and this city. I think he’s going to have the opportunity of a lifetime leading this team next season and having the nine-time NBA All-Star back in the fold was a big key for us. We are very blessed to have him.

The deal is reportedly worth $118.7 million over five seasons (see more details below).
