The Utah Jazz selected Duke wing Rodney Hood with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

Hood can really shoot the ball, and most teams are always in the hunt for more shooters. His 42 percent clip from deep as a sophomore at Duke is no mirage, as Hood has a pure and rangy stroke that should extend to the NBA 3-point line. It's also a shot he gets off quickly, which pressures the defense and opens up his driving game.

That leaves him just a post game shy of a total offensive package, and he's big enough that you can see that developing. His size doesn't push him past average on the defensive end, however, nor did it help him on the boards in college. There's some work to be done, to be sure, but Hood's a solid offensive talent.

In adding both Hood and guard Dante Exum via the draft, the Jazz have certainly crowded their backcourt. Hood has many offensive talents, and could easily snag a starting spot from his competitors sometime in the near future, but that would likely spell the end for wings like Alec Burks or Gordon Hayward. Hood is a great shooter who could, at a minimum, contribute in that respect.
