Mavericks hold off Spurs to force Game 7 in San Antonio

The Dallas Mavericks took care of business on their home court in Game 6 of their opening round series against the San Antonio Spurs, coming away with a 113-111 win to force a Game 7 on Sunday.

The Mavericks were outscored by 11 points in the third quarter, and found themselves trailing by five points entering the fourth, but they would outscore the Spurs by seven points in that final frame to seal their victory.

Star Performer

Mavericks guard Monta Ellis scored seven points in the first half, but bounced back with 10 in the third, then another 12 in the deciding fourth quarter.

He scored his 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting, knocking down three of six attempts from beyond the arc, and adding two assists, two rebounds, and a steal.

Turning Point

The Mavericks called a timeout with 7:18 to play in the fourth quarter, trailing 90-86. From that timeout to the next one called by the Spurs, Dallas outscored San Antonio 16-4, putting them up for good.
