Analysis:

Richardson never admitted defeat during his recovery period but he ultimately couldn't become healthy enough to take the court. The veteran has a player option to return to the Sixers if he so chooses, but the organization is obviously in rebuilding mode which would leave Richardson in an awkward position. Like most veterans, he'd ideally join a championship contending team instead of looking over his shoulder at younger players in need of development.
