J.R. Smith on locker room support for Woodson: 'Kind of hard to tell'

If you were Mike Woodson, looking for an ounce of support with you job reportedly resting on the last three games before the All-Star break, this quote would hardly be a ringing endorsement.

New York Knicks shooting guard J.R. Smith was asked if the team supports Woodson after their 117-90 rout of the Denver Nuggets.

"Yeah, I believe so. It's kind of hard to tell," Smith told ESPN.

"Of course, nobody wants to show their whole hand. I think guys really care about him. I think guys care about this team, care about winning," Smith continued.

Carmelo Anthony, meanwhile, was a bit more supportive:

"We've got to help him ... At the end of the day, he’s the coach. He has his focus, he has his game plan, his schemes and we’re the ones that have got to go out there and execute that. We can’t fight that. We've got to do it.

Sometimes, our inconsistency comes from not playing hard, not bringing the energy, not doing the little things on the basketball court to win. Some nights we do. Some nights we don’t. But we've got to help him with that."
