Report: Gilbert Arenas sentenced to teach 5th graders on firework safety

What's the third-highest paid player in the league (who's not in the league) up to these days? He's striking a deal with prosecutors for last summer's arrest when he was caught speeding with over 100 pounds of illegal fireworks in the car.

Gilbert Arenas, who will earn $22.3-million this season, was sentenced to 24 months probation, a $10,000 fine and 10 hours of community service. And as TMZ reports, the community service will be a back to school moment for Arenas.

"But the 10 hours have to be spent teaching 5th graders about fireworks safety ... so they don't wind up in jail for pulling a Gilbert when they grow up."

The incident dates back June 2013, when Arenas was booked for speeding without a licence in a pick-up truck full of illegal fireworks, a week before the Fourth of July.

To give credit where credit is due, the former Agent Zero and now Invisible Man's latest incident pales in comparison to his Dec. 2009 gun-in-the-locker-room fiasco with Jarvaris Crittenton (who is currently dealing with separate murder and drug charges).

Perhaps Arenas was taking notes from AC Milan star Mario Balotelli, who set fire to his own house as he tried to set off fireworks from his bathroom in 2011.

Those two should hang out.
