Childress has struggled to settle in the NBA since returning to the league after a brief stint in Greece. The Pelicans are the third team to have waived the 30-year-old in just over a year.
He featured four times for New Orleans this season, tallying a total of three rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 24 minutes.
The Pelicans' roster now stands at 14 players.
