Knicks sign Cole Aldrich, now at 19 players for camp

The New York Knicks training camp is going to be intense.

On Tuesday, the team signed Cole Aldrich to a non-guaranteed camp deal, bringing their training camp roster to 19 players. Only 12 of those players have guaranteed contracts, leaving the following names to battle for three spots:

Aldrich, Chris Smith, C.J. Leslie, Jeremy Tyler, Ike Diogu, Josh Powell and Ricky Davis

The Knicks also reportedly have interest in Earl Barron, though it's possible he could get a guaranteed contract elsewhere rather than competing for one in New York. Teams can have up to 20 players in camp but the maximum is 15 during the regular season.

Aldrich was the 11th overall pick in the 2010 Draft, though he's never delivered on his potential. In three seasons with Oklahoma City, Houston and Sacramento, the 6-foot-11 center has appeared in 89 games, averaging two points and 2.3 rebounds.
