With the Los Angeles Clippers' season on the line Friday, Paul Pierce played 22 minutes in L.A.'s 98-93 Game 6 win over the Utah Jazz. The 18-year veteran will retire when the team's season ends, but teammate Chris Paul was sure that wasn't meant to be in Salt Lake City.

"I looked over at Truth during one of them timeouts," Paul told reporters after L.A.'s win. "I said, 'you're not ending your career in Utah.'"

Paul led the way for the Clippers with a 29-point, eight-assist performance, but Pierce has been filling a role for the team over the last two games as well. He was 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in Games 5 and 6, and the 22 minutes he played Friday were his most since Nov. 29.

"We want to keep this thing going for him," Paul said.

Game 7 goes Sunday at Staples Center.
