Grizzlies' Fizdale taking suggestions on guarding Kawhi
The scrappy Memphis Grizzlies have pulled even with the San Antonio Spurs in their first-round series, but they haven't solved Kawhi Leonard. The Spurs' franchise player scored 43 points in the Grizzlies' 110-108 Game 2 overtime victory Saturday, and is shooting 55 percent in the series.
As a result, Memphis coach David Fizdale is openly courting suggestions on how to guard him from the general public.
"Honestly, I'm taking suggestions on how to guard Kawhi Leonard," Fizdale said postgame. "I've tried everything and the guy's just ... he's tough."
Fizdale being vexed by Leonard is not new. After San Antonio's Game 2 win, the coach wondered aloud if his fellow Los Angeles native was a robot who potentially bleeds antifreeze.
The 43 points in Game 4 were a playoff career-high for Leonard, and his 3-pointer tied the game with 12 seconds left in overtime, setting the stage for Marc Gasol's game winner.
