Shaq covering funeral costs for teen who accidentally shot himself

Shaquille O'Neal is stepping up to help the family of a teen who accidentally shot and killed himself while on Instagram Live.

The NBA Hall of Famer offered to pay for the funeral of 13-year-old Malachi Nasi Hemphill, who was broadcasting himself playing with a gun on April 10 when it went off, according to Julie Wolfe of Atlanta's 11Alive.

O'Neal also paid a visit to the family Thursday.

"No mother should have to go through this," he said in a statement to 11Alive. "I can only imagine the pain that she and all of Malachi's family must be feeling. I just wanted to do what I could to help them at such a terrible time."
