Kobe partners with Nike to form Mamba League for youth in L.A.
One year after retiring from the NBA, Lakers legend Kobe Bryant continues to find ways to give back to Los Angeles.
Bryant has teamed up with Nike to launch a new youth basketball program for boys and girls aged 8-10 called "Mamba League." It's comprised of 288 players and 40 coaches who are volunteers from local Nike stores and Boys & Girls Club staff, according to Brett Pollakoff of FOX Sports.
"Our line for the league is 'play, learn, grow,'" Bryant explained in the video above. "'Play, learn, grow' is really important. When I wrote it, the first thing that came to mind was my journey. Through playing the game of basketball, I learned not just about the game, but about myself and about others. And through that process you grow; you grow as an athlete and as a person."
