An injured thumb may put to rest the NBA's longest active consecutive games played streak.

Cleveland Cavaliers big man Tristan Thompson didn't travel with the team for Wednesday's road outing against the Boston Celtics after hurting his thumb during Tuesday's victory over the Orlando Magic, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

He's set to undergo a precautionary MRI after X-rays came back negative.

Thompson has played 447 games in a row for the reigning NBA champions. The last time he didn't take the floor was in 2011-12.

The ironman record belongs to A.C. Green, who played 1,192 consecutive games from Nov. 19, 1986 to April 18, 2001.

Thompson scored two points and grabbed three rebounds in 28 minutes in Cleveland's convincing 122-102 win over Orlando, and is averaging 8.1 points and 8.3 boards in 77 appearances.

The Cavaliers have taken two of three games this season against Boston, as the two teams are locked atop the Eastern Conference with identical 50-27 records.
