Jazz's Gordon Hayward: Out Monday vs. Pelicans

Hayward (quadriceps) will sit out Monday's tilt with the Pelicans, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Analysis:

While an X-ray on his quad came back revealing nothing more than a bruise, the Jazz are going to play it safe with Hayward and keep him sidelined Monday. The Jazz are already locked into the playoffs and likely want to avoid aggravating Hayward's injury moving forward, thus there's no reason to push him back into action too soon. That should open up extra minutes for both Joe Ingles and Joe Johnson, although the Jazz have yet to announce who will start in Hayward's place. Hayward's next opportunity to play will be Wednesday against the Kings.
