Heat's Waiters hopes to be back for end of regular season
Dion Waiters is currently considered day to day by the Miami Heat after suffering a scary-looking left ankle injury Friday night, and the shooting guard hopes to be back before the end of the regular season.
"That's the goal," Waiters said Sunday, according to the Sun-Sentinel's Ira Winderman. "Hopefully this thing keeps improving every day. I'm young, 25, so my bones should heal kind of fast."
He will miss at least Sunday's game with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Waiters landed on Minnesota Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng's foot in Friday's win, and had to be helped off the floor.
"I thought it was way worse than it was," Waiters added.
"Hopefully he heals fast," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
The timing isn't great for Miami, which has 13 games left including Sunday's tilt with the Blazers. The Heat sit tied for final playoff spot in the East with the Milwaukee Bucks.
